Memorial mass in memory of Holy Father took place this morning (Friday the 8th April) at St. Mary’s Church Matara. Parish Priest Rev. Father Charles Hewawasam conducted the services. Nuns, Reverend Sisters, students of St. Mary’s Convent and parishioners attended the service. The purple flag of Holy Father was seen flying at half-mast at the Church and all other places where the Catholic community lives. Arrangements have been made by Parish Priest to view the live telecast of the funeral mass being held in Vatican via Ewtn through satellite in a wide screen at the Parish Hall.
